This page describes how we use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on PRIMAL websites (for example, our marketing site). Mobile app technologies are described in our Privacy Policy and your device settings. When you open Privacy, Terms, or Cookies links inside the PRIMAL app, those pages load in an in-app Safari browser and may set the same cookies described here.

1. Cookie categories

We group cookies and similar technologies into the following categories:

Essential: Required for security, load balancing, basic site operation, and storing your cookie consent choice.
Functional: Remember choices such as language preferences where the site supports them.
Analytics: Help us understand aggregate traffic, page performance, and product usage where permitted by your choices and applicable law.
Performance: Help us measure site speed, reliability, and technical issues so we can improve the experience.

2. Local storage and functional cookies

In addition to cookies, we use local storage or similar browser technologies to remember settings. These work similarly to cookies and can be cleared through your browser settings.

primal_cookie_consent (cookie): stores your cookie-banner choice (accepted or declined). Essential for consent management. SameSite=Lax, first-party only.
primal_browser_lang (localStorage): remembers your selected website language when you use the language picker.
googtrans (cookie): used by Google Translate when you choose a non-English language (loads the Google Translate widget script from Google).

3. Consent management

On our website (theprimalapp.com and www.theprimalapp.com), we use a cookie banner to accept or decline non-essential analytics cookies where required by law. Your choice is stored in the first-party cookie primal_cookie_consent (accepted or declined). If you choose Accept cookies, analytics scripts load on that visit and subsequent visits until the cookie expires or you clear it. If you choose Not now (decline), no analytics scripts are loaded — we do not fire Vercel Analytics or Vercel Speed Insights for visitors who decline non-essential cookies. The banner may reappear after ~14 days if you declined, or after ~13 months if you accepted.

The PRIMAL mobile app does not include in-app toggles for website analytics and does not use third-party analytics SDKs in the iOS app. Website cookie preferences apply to theprimalapp.com pages viewed in a desktop/mobile browser or in the app’s in-app Safari browser. You can change your website preferences at any time by:

using the cookie banner or “Manage Cookies” link on our site;
clearing cookies and local storage in your browser settings; or
contacting us at theprimalapp@gmail.com.

Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before it was withdrawn.

4. Analytics technologies

Website (opt-in only): After you accept non-essential cookies in our banner, we load the following analytics and measurement tools. They do not load if you decline or have not yet chosen:

Vercel Analytics (@vercel/analytics): aggregate page views, referrer, and approximate visitor metrics. Processed by Vercel under their privacy policy.
Vercel Speed Insights (@vercel/speed-insights): web performance and Core Web Vitals measurements to help us improve site speed and reliability.

These tools may collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device type, browser type, and referral source. We use this information in aggregated form to improve our marketing site. Our website does not display ads. We do not use Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, Firebase Analytics, Plausible, or similar tools on this website.

PRIMAL iOS app (separate from the website): The mobile app does not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or other third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Progress Insights in the app are computed on-device and are not website analytics cookies.

5. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you reject analytics cookies, Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights will not load (our site checks primal_cookie_consent before loading them). Essential cookies such as consent storage and language preferences may still be set. For more information about how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
